One track in particular stands out on the F1 Academy calendar. The all-female series will hold its final round on the Las Vegas Strip circuit which held its debut race in 2023 for the Formula One Grand Prix. In 2025 F1 Academy will race on this 6.2km track for the first time, which provided the title fight goes to the last race could set up viewers for a tantalising title decider.
The key feature that sets this track apart from others on the F1 academy calendar is the 1.9km back straight. Such a long full throttle stretch should in theory promote some great racing action via the massive slipstream effect that the leading cars will be giving those behind. Given the F1 Academy cars have a top speed of around 150mph its possible we may even see passes and re-passes down the back straight as drivers jockey for position, and the heavy braking zone of turn 11 will offer another good overtaking opportunity if you couldn’t get the move done on the straight.
Such a race will favour the drivers with the best race craft and a cool head as putting your car in the right place at the right time will be crucial. More experienced drivers like Doriane Pin, Maya Weug and Chloe Chambers will be looking to capitalise.
On the other hand, it could also be an opportunity for a driver who may not be quite have the speed of the front runners at a more conventional track to demonstrate another facet of their skillset and snatch a great result.
Taking place on the same weekend as the Formula One Grand Prix, make sure to tune in for what could be an exhilarating race.
